| Preparing for deployment involves more
than packing your bags. Since you can’t predict when you’ll
be called to serve, ensure you and your household are mission-ready.
Create a comprehensive deployment readiness plan and consider
the following areas: Put
It In Writing – Clearly outline financial or
legal matters in an estate plan.
Have a Back-Up
– Contact your financial service providers before adding
your spouse or a trusted friend or relative to handle your
financial obligations.
Insure Peace of
Mind - Give your loved ones a financial security blanket.
Life insurance protection recommendation - seven to ten times
your annual income.
Protect Your Property
- If your home will be unoccupied during deployment, notify
your insurance company, have a relative or friend secure and
protect your property, or store your valuables in a commercial
storage facility. If your vehicle will be properly stored,
you may be able to reduce your coverage depending on where
you live.
Take Inventory
- Make copies of crucial documents and store them in a safe
deposit box that you and the person you designate can access.
